Privacy Policy

If you only read (not signed in):

• Nothing that identifies you. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking scripts, and we set no tracking cookies.
• Like every website, the servers that deliver the pages record technical request logs (time, address requested, IP address, browser type). These are kept for up to 14 days for security and fault-finding and are not used to profile anyone.

If you sign in with Google:

• From Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account identifier. We never receive your password and we do not read your mail, contacts or files.
• We keep an account record: those details, your account type (for example Free Plan, or your role in your university), the organisation your email belongs to if any, and when you first and last used the site.
• If you flag a verse or propose a correction, we keep what you wrote, the text before and after, and the time, together with your email address, so editors can review it and credit it.

To open instantly, the site keeps copies of chapters and verses you have opened, and your display settings, in your browser's own storage. This never leaves your device. You can see how much is stored and erase it in Settings, and signing out erases it as well.

Signing in sets one essential cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. There are no other cookies.

• To show you the features your account includes and keep you signed in.
• To let universities give their students and staff access by email address.
• To review, apply and attribute corrections to the texts.
• To keep the site secure and working.

We do not sell personal information, show advertising or share your details with anyone for marketing.

• Google, for sign-in. Google's own privacy policy covers what it records when you sign in.
• Amazon Web Services, which hosts the site and stores account records for us. The servers are currently in AWS's Sydney region and are planned to move to its Mumbai region.
• The administrators of the site, and for members of a university, the editors who review corrections, can see the name and email attached to an account or a correction.

• Your account record: until you ask us to delete it, or we close an account that has been unused for a long time.
• Corrections you made that were applied to the text stay as part of the editorial record; on request we remove your name and email from them.
• Server logs: up to 14 days.

• You can read without signing in.
• You can sign out at any time, and withdraw the site's access in your Google account settings.
• You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account, by writing to contact@ayureader.in from the email address of the account. We act on such requests within 30 days.
• If you are in India, you also have the rights the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you, including to raise a grievance with us at the same address and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India.

The site is meant for students, teachers, practitioners and general readers. It is not directed at children, and anyone under 18 should use an account only with a parent's or guardian's consent.

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Account records are kept in a managed database with access limited to the site's own services and its administrators. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and significant changes will be announced on the site.
